Cllr Liz Leffman Chair of England's Economic Heartland, has welcomed the new ministerial team at the Department for Transport.
She said: "On behalf of England’s Economic Heartland, I would like to congratulate the new Secretary of State for Transport and her ministerial team on their appointments.
"The incoming government has made growing the economy the bedrock of its approach. Our region, with its world class science, technology and creative sectors, is uniquely positioned to support their ambitions – but our potential will only be realised with investment in the right infrastructure at the right time.
"As the sub-national transport body led by our local and combined authorities, and collaborating with partners such as the Oxford-Cambridge Supercluster Board, universities group and pan-regional partnership, we will work with the government to identify, secure and maximise the value of the infrastructure our region needs – unlocking economic opportunities for our residents, businesses and the wider UK."
